"The fitness industry is basically disgusting in a lot of ways, and I don’t fit in. So I’m very aware that my refusal to fall prey to body ideals could someday bite me on the butt.

"Diet culture has too many advocates. I want to change it, and the only way to do that is from the inside out. Hopefully there just keeps being folks who can afford to pay me to do it. Economies wax and wane, and I know for sure I will hit a downslope at some point. It’s okay. As long as the broader message continues to proliferate and I have just enough to live, I’m cool. I’m good at making gold out of rice, beans, bike rides, and food stamps if I need to."
